OUR APPROACH
Periodontist

Periodontal Dentistry

A periodontist is a specialized dentist, who receives extensive specific training as well as three years of additional schooling. Your Periodontist will specialize in two areas, firstly, in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of periodontal disease which is the chronic inflammatory disease affecting the gum tissue as well as bones that support the teeth, this is more commonly referred to as gum disease, and secondly in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists receive extensive training in both of these areas and more, including three additional years of education beyond dental school.

Your referral to a periodontist will be because of specialized knowledge in the areas of periodontal treatment and dental implants.

Quite the opposite, if your general dentist refers you to a Periodontist, you will know that you are getting the best periodontal treatment or dental implant procedure due to the additional three years of specialized training in these fields.
